Top Docs 2017Congratulations to Dr. Kelly Luba and Dr. Tiffany Nelson who were both honored by Phoenix Magazine as Top Doctors in Phoenix. This is Dr. Luba’s seventh selection and Dr. Nelson’s second.


Dr. Kelly Luba was honored for the sixth time by Phoenix Magazine as one of the valley’s “Top Docs” in Family Medicine for 2016.

In the Spring of 2013, Dr. Nelson was named as 1 of 28 individuals selected to serve as Health IT Fellows. The Health IT Fellows were selected to provide their guidance and experience to improve healthcare nationwide.

US News and World Report has honored four of our physicians as their Top Doctors in 2012 for Family Medicine. Considering that US News only identified 9 family practice physicians in the Phoenix area, this is quite an achievement. Congratulations to Dr. Lau, Dr. Kelly Luba, Dr. Nelson, and Dr. Piccione!

Top Docs 2013 Congratulations to Dr. Martin Hernandez, who was honored for a third time as a Top Doctor by Phoenix MAgazine in their Top Docs 2013 issue.


Dr. Kelly Luba was honored for a third time by Phoenix Magazine as one of Phoenix’s “Top Docs” for Family Practice for 2012.


In Phoenix Magazine’s 2011 Top Docs issue, Dr. Lau and Dr. Luba were honored as two of the valley’s 17 “Top Docs” for Family Practice.  Dr. Luba received the distinct honor of being the top vote getter for Family Practice.


In Phoenix Magazine’s 2009 Top Docs issue, Dr. Nelson, Dr. Luba and Dr. Hernandez were honored to be named as Top Docs for Family Medicine. This was Dr. Hernandez’s second selection.


Top Docs 2006Dr. Martin Hernandez was honored by Phoenix Magazine’s 2006 issue to be named as one of the Top Doctors in Phoenix for Family Medicine.


In 2012, Desert Ridge Family Physicians was a finalist in the NextGen Healthcare/Intel Innovation Awards.


In June of 2012, Dr. Nelson was invited to the White House in recognition of her leadership and involvement in improving healthcare. While in Washington, D.C., she shared the story of Desert Ridge Family Physicians and their use of Health Information Technology to improve the delivery of care. She participated in events over two days with Health IT leaders from across the country, including events with Secretary of HHS Kathleen Sebelius and the National Coordinator for Health IT Dr. Farzad Mostashari.


In the summer of 2012, Desert Ridge Family Physicians was profiled by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology for our use of secure email with our patients to improve patient engagement and quality of care.

NextGen Best Practice Award – 2007

Member of the ONC MUVer (Meaningful Use Vanguard) program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’  Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.  Testified in person in Washington D.C. before the Standards Committee’s Implementation Workgroup.


Dr. Nelson co-presented results of a pilot study titled “Engaging Physicians in Risk Factor Reduction” at the DMAA Forum 2009.
