MEET

TOMÁS ACUÑA, MD

Tomás Acuña, MD is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician. Born in Sonora, Mexico and moved to Phoenix as a child with his family. He was raised in Central Phoenix and graduated from Central High School.

Dr. Acuña attended Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and earned a Medical Degree from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. After medical school, Dr. Acuña completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix where he served as Chief Resident.

Following his residency, he continued at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a Faculty Ambulatory Physician for 3 years. Dr. Acuña is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and continues to mentor third-year medical students.

Dr. Acuña provides the full spectrum of family medicine including preventive care and chronic illnesses care with his areas of interests being asthma, COPD, diabetes and men’s health. With his fluency in English and in Spanish, Dr. Acuña is able to accommodate a diverse patient population.
